Today is Shrove Tuesday (Mardi Gras)

On Shrove Tuesday:

We taste crêpes and famous doughnuts (fritters) of carnival, the children disguise and/or ask the neighbors in the villages eggs, sugar, some flour, etc., to make cakes or crêpes which are eaten late in the afternoon.
It is especially the highlight of the Carnival. In Dunkerque, for example, Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays are baptized the three Joyful. During these three days, the Carnival of Dunkerque reaches its paroxysm. In the whole city, people dress up and parade in the street.
